Oppo is known for ridiculously razor thin smartphone models. However, recent rumors tell us that the company is seeking to break its own records by developing an even thinner handset. Measuring at only 6.13mm think, the Oppo R809T will become the world’s next slimmest handset. Earlier, the Oppo Find 3 grabbed the world’s thinnest smartphone title before being outdone by Alcatel’s handset.
The Oppo R809T is generally a mid-range with MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor, 4.5” 720p display and 1GB of RAM. This should be a balanced configuration as the MediaTek SoC would be hard-pressed to handle a 1080p full HD display.
However, at about $400 off-contract, the Oppo R809T is a bit too expensive compared to other mid-rangers currently released by Chinese phone makers. The phone should be ready for release in April or May and this is just a couple of weeks away. Again, there’s no word whether the phone will be available beyond the Chinese border.
