Sources in the industry have revealed Nokia’s plan to release a couple of Android-powered smartphones. These Vertu-branded smartphone will be aimed towards premium users. They’ll come preloaded with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.4).
Other important details are WVGA display, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 processor, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and support for WCDMA network. Visually, these phones will have shapes reminiscent to earlier Vertu models. The 1250mAh battery looks like a bit limited, but understandable as premium users typically use a phone only for voice calls.
It’s easy to suspect that Vertu smartphones will have four-figure price tags. But we can’t be too sure yet, before the company officially acknowledges these handsets, probably in MWC 2013. But, some say that these monstrosities will be available for at least $4000. While Vertu smartphones won’t cook them dinner for the money, premium users will appreciate its real leather and stainless steel design.
